Scripture Reading : Luke 2: 36-38

Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple…. She never left the Temple but stayed there day and night, worshiping God with fasting and prayer. She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.

Luke, the physician, writer of gospel

Still at the temple, same day, same time; now we meet a wise older woman. As I read the story of prophetess Anna, I think of the young Samaritan woman at the well. The story different but similar in the fact that both women shared their great news with many people. We are called to proclaim the good news of Jesus just the same today. Their joy seemed contagious, both caught spreading a story they could not keep inside. What have you done to spread joy this Christmas? Let’s get caught spreading joy today.

Nativity Fast

Still preparing for our feast. This year there seems to be more joy preparing the food for this day. Could it be that small sacrifices lead to joy? Christmas morning I try to share one plant based dish with our loved ones. Last year I made a vegan potato casserole for breakfast along with the standard sausage casserole that my children crave. It was good and enjoyed by others, no one even noticed it was vegan. https://holycowvegan.net/cheesy-vegan-breakfast-potato-casserole/ What are your favorite Christmas morning breakfast traditions?
