Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:8-9

You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.  The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.

Peter, disciple of Jesus

These words say it all, Peter. We hear the Christmas story every year. We can imagine the baby born in a manager, Mary and Joseph on their donkey, and the wise men and their gifts. But those that believe today have to have faith that these things happened, that our Lord chose to be born to a family of humble means, born in a manger, torn from his country shortly after birth to wait in hiding. Later the story continues, Peter was there to witness the events. He fulfilled all scripture and the “reward for trusting him will be the salvation of our souls”. Amen. Thank you Jesus.

Today, this Christmas eve, reflect on your experiences this advent. What have you learned? Have you grown closer in your walk with the Lord? I plan to do this every year from now on. I do a similar practice during the season of Lent, which has been life changing. Anytime daily devotion, prayer, worship and preparing your heart to say thank you for the blessings God has given you, will change your life. Guaranteed! See you the first day of Lent. God has already told me what story to tell.
