Scripture Reading: Psalm 16: 8-11

I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
    My body rests in safety.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.

David, the King

These words remind me of our Lord’s guiding presence. It’s Saturday morning, feeling a little melancholy, very real dream about my mom the night before last, one that I can not shake. Instead of feeling distraught, I write the words above and remind myself that if I allow God, He will guide my day. He will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of His presence. We only need to ask for his guiding light. He will provide. Try it. Listen to that quiet voice that leads. Listen for those little things that pop into your mind. Follow them. Proclaim to God that you are going to follow them, then next thing you know at the end of the day, you look back and say “wow, I do see joy now. Thank you.”

Nativity Fast

It’s the weekend. Saturday and Sunday’s, we are allowed to partake in oil and wine. Be gentle with your body. You have come so far. My cravings have finally subsided from the oil withdrawals. I’m going to keep plowing forward. Enjoy the season. Find something in your community today that brings you joy. Listen to that voice and allow Him to guide you.
