Chapter 7 – Help is Here

Scripture Reading: Romans 12:1-2

Do you have a life verse?  A verse that defines your life and what God wants you to be doing?  Romans 12:2 is this verse for me. Years ago, praying for answers about the direction of my life, I was outside in the driveway, found a little piece of paper, about the size of a fortune cookie message, and on this paper was this verse.  Finding that little piece of paper changed the direction of my life.  I began working on the process of not being conformed to the world, and little by little God revealed the Hope For Pain ministry to my soul, helping others with chronic pain. I still struggle with being conformed to the world.  Do you?

This week reading chapter 7 of Max Lucado’s book, he talks about how to hear from God.  This is the answer in my opinion.  This verse.  We have to work to not be conformed to the ways of this world.  The NLT version of this verse writes, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this word, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will of you.”   Thank you, Max.  I needed this reminder.

Today, write your life verse out on paper. If you don’t have one, then heed Paul’s advice so that you can discern and hear God’s voice and plan for your life. The spirit is ready to direct you just as he did in the wilderness with the pillars of smoke and fire.
