Passover begins tonight at sundown. Jesus said before he died “With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer”……. Luke 22:15-16.

I believe that Jesus still desires even today to celebrate the Passover with us. In contemporary style let’s listen to Jesus’s words from the Message , “You’ve no idea how much I have looked forward to eating this Passover meal with you before I enter my time of suffering. It’s the last one I’ll eat until we all eat it together in the kingdom of God.” I believe we will all one day eat the Passover dinner together in the kingdom of heaven with our God, together as Jews and Gentiles. In remembrance of our Lord, let’s take a look at the first Passover festival.

The first Passover festival took place two weeks after the Tabernacle was finished by Moses, one year after the Israelites departed from Egypt, in the wilderness of Sinai. God commanded them to celebrate this festival, a lasting ordinance forever, for generations to come. And the Lord said “if foreigners living among you want to celebrate the Passover to the Lord, they must follow these same decrees and regulations. The same laws apply both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.” Numbers 9:1-14

Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. Exodus 12:17

As Gentiles we are those foreigners. We are to follow those same decrees. Paul said ,  For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. And in contemporary words…… The Messiah, our Passover Lamb, has already been sacrificed for the Passover meal, and we are the Unraised Bread part of the Feast. So let’s live out our part in the Feast, not as raised bread swollen with the yeast of evil, but as flat bread—simple, genuine, unpretentious.” Amen, brother Paul.

Today, our family will celebrate the Passover, with a Seder dinner. We will celebrate with Jesus before his time of suffering begins. One For Israel Ministry reminds us for Passover 2020, “We may be shut in this Passover, separated from friends and family, but we have an abundance of riches to feast upon as we reflect on the
meaning of this time. God is speaking to us. We are confined to our homes with an amazing opportunity to reflect and ponder… We have more time to relate meaningfully to those in our
households, and to think about God. “

“By participating in this God-ordained holiday, we are pleasing Him by remembering His awesome
work of salvation. Jews everywhere are observing this feast with us this week, as they have for
thousands of years. But most do so without understanding the beautiful message of God’s original
intentions…the Jesus Christ the Messiah was THE Passover Lamb that God had been pointing to
since the days of Exodus. How privileged we are to be able to celebrate with that full knowledge!” (One For Israel Ministry )
