It’s almost noon, at least where I live in this small little piece of the universe. At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then a three 0’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, My God, my god, why have you abandoned me?” Then Jesus shouted another loud cry and breathed his last, and he released his spirit And the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

This is the veil we have talked about over the last few weeks. The veil that existed in the the temple that separated man from the presence of God. But on that day this veil was torn, and no longer are we separated from God. His presence is within us. No longer in a temple, sanctuary, or tabernacle.

And then the earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. In the words of John, the disciple of Jesus, ” Jesus knew that his mission was now finished.”

I end today with words from the song Way Maker and music by Passion City Church for your meditation time. Read through Mark 15:33-41, Matthew 27:45-56, Luke 23:44-49 and then John 19:28-37. All four Gospels accounts of the death of Jesus.

Just like on good Friday, over two thousand years ago, God has a plan. “Even when I don’t see it, you’re working. Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working. You never stop, You never stop working. You are the Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, and light in my darkness. My God, that is who you are. “

A beautiful reminder of God’s plans for this day, good Friday.
