The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13, NLT

Do you believe, really believe way down deep, that this promise applies to you and your temptations?  Do you have a exit strategy all planned out?  You probably should.  For example, if your temptation is gossiping.  Ahead of time figure out your exit strategy.  What’s a verbal cue that will help me to stop, turn around and flee?  Our family has a exit strategy for gossiping.  If someone starts saying anything negative about another person, one member of our family will stop the conversation and say “Courts getting to you”.  It’s a long story how we came up with the phrase, but it works. God provided this little phrase to our family to use in these situations. We are not always 100%. But it does work.

Lysa Terkeurst, from the “Made to Crave” bible study talks in chapter 16 about this technique.  She says “The way out the Lord provides for me is deciding in advance what I will and will not have to eat each day.  We are not to flee from food.  We need food.   But we are to flee the control food can have over our lives.  God promises to provide when we are tempted.”

Think today about one of your temptations.  Figure out your exit strategy.  Ask God to provide this for you.
